چکیده

Sarcoidosis is a disease of unknown cause that is characterized by the presence of non-caseous granuloma. The diagnosis is made whenever this histological finding occurs in the absence of other known causes. of non-caseating granulomas and whenever compatible clinical and radiographic findings are present. The usual chest radiographic findings in sarcoidosis are (1) bilateral hilar and occasionally right paratracheal adenopathy, (2) thoracic lymphadenopathy and pulmonary densities, (3) pulmonary densities without lymphadenopathy, and (4) predominant pulmonary fibrosis. Occasionally, the clue as to the possible clinical diagnosis of pulmonary sarcoidosis is the presence of bilateral hilar lymphadenopathy. Sarcoidosis is not usually considered in the differential diagnosis of unilateral hilar enlargement or of right paratracheal adenopathy alone, but it should be.

Sarcoidosis and Systemic Sclerosis: Strange Bedfellows

Coexistence of systemic sclerosis and sarcoidosis is rare. Both have predominant lung manifestations, each with distinctive features on computed tomography (CT) of the chest. We present herein a 52-year-old male with limited systemic sclerosis manifested primarily by sclerodactyly and subsequently by shortness of breath. A series of CT scans of the chest were reviewed. Initial CT chest one year...

Reactivation of Old Scars in an Elderly Man Revealing Löfgren's Syndrome

Here, we report the case of a 55-year-old man with reactivation of old cutaneous scars associated with a febrile illness, episcleritis, polyarthralgias, erythema nodosum and hilar adenopathy. High-resolution computed tomography (HRCT) revealed right paratracheal, bilateral hilar, and subcarinal lymphadenopathy without any nodular densities in both lung fields. A scar biopsy revealed multiple no...

Bilateral hilar adenopathy: an unusual presentation of renal cell carcinoma.

Isolated symmetrical hilar adenopathy in an asymptomatic patient is an unusual presentation for pulmonary metastatic disease. In a large series of patients with bilateral hilar adenopathy only those with sarcoidosis were free of symptoms. In contrast, all the patients with hilar adenopathy secondary to extrathoracic neoplasms were symptomatic and the primary tumour was apparent.' The purpose of...

Sarcoidal Type Foreign Body Reaction: A Case Report

Sarcoidosis and foreign body reactions are common differential diagnoses of skin granuloma formation. We report a 40 year –old man with sarcoid type granulomas containing polarized foreign materials, and also bilateral hilar adenopathy. It appears that detection of foreign bodies in histopatologic studies of granulomas does not necessarily exclude the possibility of sarcoidosis.
